Class Offerings

Music is a vital part of life, and it's a powerful tool for unlocking creativity, discipline, and confidence in every student. Led by Gayatri Venkatesan, a range of classes are offered to support a student's entire musical journey. The "Little Chirpers" and "Songbirds" classes introduce young children to the magic of music through joyful group activities. For more dedicated musicians, RCM Group Classes provide a comprehensive curriculum and prepare students for formal examinations. Private voice lessons are available for voice students who have reached at least RCM Level 4 or equivalent and are in middle school or above. Exceptional elementary students may also be considered for private lessons after a successful audition. Students are given opportunities to showcase their skills and grow as performers through recitals, NATS competitions, and workshops.

Little Chirpers (ages 3 - 5)

This 12 session class is a playful introduction to music. Through a delightful blend of games, songs, and movement, children will develop essential ear training skills. They'll learn to differentiate between high and low pitches and identify various sounds in their environment through playful activities like sound-matching games. We'll also build core rhythmic skills, teaching them to echo simple rhythms and maintain a steady beat. Tonal singing is introduced sequentially, starting with "so-mi" and "so-la" before progressing to the full pentatonic scale.

Songbirds (ages 5-7)

The natural continuation of "Little Chirpers," this 12 session class builds on the foundational singing and musical skills. The curriculum emphasizes singing simple folk songs from beginning to end with memorized lyrics, focusing on developing a clear tone, accurate pitch, and a steady rhythm while singing unaccompanied. Students will sing as a group and will also be encouraged to sing short solos to build confidence. They will continue to refine their rhythm and pitch echo skills and will also be introduced to basic rhythm notation.

RCM Beginner Classes: Prep Level to L4 (ages 8+)

These group classes are designed for students who wish to start preparing for RCM exams. Classes will place emphasis in the following areas:

Basic scales and arpeggios
Ear training
Breathing and healthy vocal technique
Sight singing
Basic music theory

Private Lessons

Private lessons are offered to exceptional students who have met all of the following criteria:

Have reached at least RCM L4 or equivalent
Are currently studying in Middle school and above
Are proficient in reading sheet music.

Note: Promising students in elementary school are encouraged to apply for a private lesson audition to be considered for an exception.
